Feminism has been an idea that has been around for a long time. Simone de Beauvoir wrote that “The first time we see a woman take up a pen in defense of her sex” was by Christine de Pizan who wrote Epitre au Dieu d’Amour (in the 15th century). However, modern feminism, by most accounts, had its start in 1848 during the Seneca Falls Convention. Grounded in the right to equality, the movement had a lot of potentials and eventually, a lot of political might. Sadly, this power has not been used wisely; although, it has been effective, and used to further an agenda that has driven our country apart.
The Women’s Movement in the 1800’s, also known as first wave feminism took on several issues from property rights and divorce to equal pay and voting rights. This helped lead to the Representation of the People Act in 1918, which allowed women over the age of 30 who owned houses to vote. This was changed in 1928 to allow women to vote who were over the age of 21. The movement of the 1940’s is directly responsible for the welfare system, which they consider to be one of the greatest achievements of the [20th] century. The feminists of the 60’s and 70’s (also known as second-wave feminism) took the movement to a whole new level.
Throughout the 60’s women often sought black market abortions or even attempted to self-abort their babies. This propelled the feminists to lobby for “safe” legalized abortion. This would lead to the landmark Supreme Court case of Roe v Wade in 1973.
Our welfare system has been abused for decades by people unwilling to be responsible for themselves and their families. While their intent is altruistic, we must always remember that once people know that they can get handouts, they will not even try anymore.
Since women have been legally permitted to murder their own unborn children, our country has seen a rise in mental illness, behavioral disorders, and mass killings, as well as a decline in traditional family values and respect for life. It is not hard to understand that this was the goal all along for second and third wave feminism. It is also not hard to understand school shootings in this light.
It stands to reason that with feminism, the road to hell truly is paved with good intentions.
The right to vote, equal pay, and respect for women are noble causes and should be supported fully. What should have happened was for the rise of feminism to be a safeguard that these causes were secured so they never risked the loss of them again. But what we have is an ugly beast that causes destruction everywhere it goes.
Americans have long been thought spoiled by the rest of the world. We have little self-control and lack the respect our ancestors possessed. We have been “dumbed down” for generations by design, a fact made obvious by our nation’s failing ability to compete with other countries and the pathetic excuses we have had as political candidates. We fall for it every time.
Feminism has morphed into a crazed state, especially with the rise of the third-wave feminism which focuses more on sexual politics than anything else, no doubt exacerbated by the gimme-gimme mindset of our citizens. Few sit back and consider the consequences of their actions. Case in point- “Social Justice Warriors”. If you do not know what they are, search Youtube and see Femnazi bullying for yourself. These are some of the same people who paraded around in vagina hats, demanding to not be looked at as a sex object. Facepalm…..
When you impose the right to kill your own child at will, treat our male counterparts like dogs, and howl every time you perceive a sexual injustice, you defile the original nature of our foremothers’ intent. Just chill already. Things have a way of working themselves out.
